The Russian Alexandrov Red Army Choir and Ensemble is the official army choir of the Russian armed forces. They are widely regarded as the foremost artistic ensemble of its kind, twice earning the Order of the Red Banner and Red Star, the highest military decoration recognizing civilian service. Their Canadian tour will feature an astonishing 125 musicians and performers, consisting of soloists, a male choir, and dancers, together with a full orchestra performing with a mixed composition of Russian traditional and western instruments, including the balalaika, the domra, the bayan, the double bass, woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments.

For Designers & Artists:
Mason is hosting a design event in the Toronto west-end community of the Junction from October 18-30, 2011, pairing up designers & artists with design-savvy retailers to create jaw-dropping window installations. Come out and show us what you’ve got by working with some amazing products in an incredible area of the city.

How It Works
After registering, come meet us for the kick-off meeting in mid-September to receive your project kit and to chat with the other project designers. Teams will be given a set budget and a retail space on Dundas West strip in the Junction. You will then have a month to design, plan and construct your installation incorporating the product offered by the retailer. The install will happen over the course of one day while the shop is closed. All displays will be on show for a duration of two weeks.

• Meet up with other amazing local designers/artists & retailers
• Get involved with the Junction design community
• Get your name out there through the event marketing

Hello Junction Community,

As you probably know, the Junction Arts Festival has been cancelled this year.

I had arranged to have a Toronto Public Library tent and have decided to keep that reservation. I am planning to have a "community meet and greet" that day here on the Annette Street Library lawn from 1 - 4 pm the day the Festival would have been, Saturday September 10.

We will have some activities for children and promote the programs happening at Annette Street and further afield in the Toronto Public Library. I welcome you to join us to promote your community activism / group / activities.

The West Toronto Junction Historical Society is planning to put up their tent as well.

I am very open to other ideas for the day.

I hope you'll consider joining us for some or all of the time; please let me know if you would like to attend and if you would like to do any kind of presentation/program.

I had such a wonderful day at The Junction Farm Fest, helping with the Toronto Bee Co-Op at the train platform with a wonderful gentleman called Oliver. My favorite honey was the blueberry / raspberry blossom and the buckwheat honey was delicious as well.

It was a happy day offering people samples of raw honey, raspberry honey, cinnamon honey, wildflower honey and Royal Jelly as well as hand creams, candles and bee venom cream for arthritis. Hearing about the sacred bee and being asked if I will help out with the booth at The Whole Life Expo on November 26th.

I did a quick tour of the Mavety Street section and saw Janis taking rustic Kaleidoscope photos with chickens and bales of straw and great hats to choose from. I saw sheep and goats as well as chickens and bees.

Ice cream at the platform was heaven, a wonderful lady appeared with a spoonful for me to try. I can truly say I had the time of my life today. It really was fun and the music was fabulous. The whole thing was so well organized and I love my little piece of wood name tag and the ornate beeswax egg candle I treated myself to as a souvenir of the day, to bring me fond memories in the future.
