Where: Dundas & Keele, Dundas strip from Quebec Ave to Indian Grove

A Fall Fun Day for The Entire Family

Enjoy a day of family fun at Pumpkinfest in the Junction on Saturday, October 28. Starting at 2:00 p.m., children of all ages are welcome to design or carve pumpkins at the Junction Train Platform (2964 Dundas St. West, Toronto, Ontario). The pumpkins, donated by the Sweet Potato, are free to carve and all tools are provided.

The Junction will be full of fall spirit, with activities for all ages. Those in costume can go trick-or-treating at local businesses (local for the Pumpkinfest Trick or Treat Location decal on their windows) and participate in The Junction City Music Hall’s Monster Mash Costume Dance Party from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

The Monster Mash is a family event, it is $5 per group, and everyone is welcome. Come on out with your costumes, dance, and play pinball and win some great prizes.

Weather permitting, there will be a Bouncy Castle at Junction Health.

Bands: The Junction Summer Solstice Festival, June 24, 2017

TUNS, the Canadian 'supergroup', will be headlining this year’s Junction Summer Solstice Festival.

TUNS, comprised of Chris Murphy from Sloan, Matt Murphy of The Super Friendz, and The Inbreds’ Mike O'Neill, TUNS will end out the evening on Saturday June 24th with their 10:30pm set on the main stage. This is an exciting new band of equals, of collaborators, of experienced veterans who sound as exuberant as ever. It’s like a music geek’s version of fantasy baseball. The band’s self-titled debut album was released at the end of last summer.

Schedule: Snug As A Bug Kid’s Zone at the Summer Solstice in the Junction

Visit the Kid’s Zone at the Summer Solstice, sponsored by Snug As A Bug in the Junction.

Heintzman Street will be turned into the new Snug as a Bug Kids Zone! Bring your kids for a fun afternoon (12pm to 5:30pm) of hula hooping, face painting, a magic show, and to bounce around in a pirate ship! Snug As A Bug will also be supplying a FREE craft kit for the little ones to take home. Don’t forget to stop by the store to get some crafting ideas and join in on the fun in the front window!

The Junction will be participating in the Toronto Design Offsite Festival once again.

The fifth annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TODO) showcases the best in Canadian design at events across the city, from unexpected prototypes to immersive installations from January 19-25, 2015. Nearly one quarter of the exhibitions will be featured here in The Junction.

TO DO is a not-for-profit, independent design festival that aims to provide exposure for local and national designers. They also foster public understanding and knowledge of the practice of design and create an ongoing presence that promotes Canada’s creativity, drawing on great thinkers, practitioners, and educators to a deliver an innovative celebration of art and design. During the brisk Toronto winter they offer the best in installations, furniture, industrial design, conceptual design and more, to people from Toronto and beyond.

TO DO 15 Opening Party

Festival week starts on Monday, but kick-it-off mid-week at the TO DO Opening Party at SMASH (2880 Dundas St W) in the Junction. Come and find out what the Festival is about, meet local designers, experience featured installations, and dance with the amazing community that makes this Festival happen. Live music by Das Hussy. Featured installation by LeuWebb Projects and live mural by Ben Johnston.

The Junction Music Festival 2013

The Junction BIA is pleased to  announced the lineup and details for their 2nd annual Junction Music Festival, happening September 21st on outdoor stages and in businesses across the Junction neighbourhood anchored by Dundas St. West and Keele Streets.

Headliners include classic rock revivalists Zeus, alt-country heroes Cuff the Duke, klezmer-punks Lemon Bucket Orkestra, and Canadian/South African R&B singer Zaki Ibrahim, whose recent album Every Opposite is short-listed for the coveted Polaris Music Prize, awarded to the Canadian album “of the highest artistic integrity, without regard to musical genre, professional affiliation, or sales history.”  Ibrahim finds out if she’s won the $30,000 prize only 2 days after the festival.

The event features music on 5 outdoor stages, 20+ venues, both traditional music stops and participating local businesses, from café’s to bookstores, all hosting music acts throughout the day.

The bill features artists an eclectic mix of genres, from funk to punk to jazz and latin, focusing largely on Junction-area talent, and interweaving other artists who have unique connections to the neighbourhood.

“My dad was born and raised in the Junction on Clendenan Avenue, so we have a long family history with this area of Toronto“ says Cuff The Duke’s Wayne Petti. All of the artists’ unique Junction-area stories are available on the festival website.

In addition to performances, there will be music workshops and other programming, and local businesses are taking the opportunity to present music-related offerings on the day, including music-inspired menus from local eateries, and more.

The event is completely free and is an all day event.  The outdoor programming is all-ages, while the venue programming may be subject to 19+ licensing, depending on venue.

The Junction BIA invites you and your family to the Santa in the Junction - Free All Day Event on Saturday December 1st 2012 Starting at 11 AM!

Santa in The Junction

On Saturday, December 1st we are inviting you to visit the Junction Neighbourhood to experience Santa in the Junction festivities. Meet Santa and his elves, stroll through the Junction to discover interactive window displays, listen to Mrs. Claus reading holiday tales, partake in a craft workshops in the Elf Village, find some unique gifts, all while enjoying some hot chocolate or other take-away treats presented by participating Junction businesses along Dundas Street West at Keele Street.

Join us, as we celebrate Santa’s Visit to the Junction with workshops, presentations, holiday promotions and treats.

Also note, Canadian Pacific Rail Holiday Train is making its only Toronto stop in the Junction at 5:30 PM. So start your holiday celebrations right, and head to the Junction on December 1st. Event starts at 11 am.

The 2012 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train visits the Junction December 1st, 2012 at 05:30 PM
Location: 750 Runnymede Rd, in front of CP Lambton yard office, parking only in Walmart lot [Runnymede south  of St. Clair, entrance opposite Ryding Ave.]

Here is the best explanation of how to get there:

This year, it will be stopping at 750 Runnymede Road in front of the railway’s Lambton Yard office.
It’s a short walk from anywhere in the upper Junction.
Parking is available at the Walmart beside the office.

Transit users may take the 71 and 79 bus routes which originate from Runnymede subway station and get off at Runnymede and St. Clair, then walk south towards the railway underpass. The entrance to the yard is just before the underpass, and is next to the Walmart plaza.

The 40 Junction route goes to the loop at Dundas and Runnymede, and riders can get off there and walk north, through the underpass. The yard entrance is on the left.

Those taking the 30 Lambton bus will likewise get off at Dundas and Runnymede and walk north through the underpass on the west sidewalk of Runnymede.

The CP Holiday Train, which will this year visit 150 Canadian and U.S. communities, offers a free and festive family activity at each stop, all the while collecting food and money for local food banks and raising awareness in the fight against hunger. The CP also makes a contribution to local food banks along the way. Make sure to bring along a non perishable food donation.

Entertainers on the Canadian train include Doc Walker, Miss Emily, and the Brothers Dube.

This just in! Santa Clause is coming to the Junction. It’s been confirmed!

On Saturday December 11, 2010 Santa Claus is going to be at the Junction Train Platform. (Dundas & Pacific).

Word on the street is that he will have a big bag of candy canes with him.

He’s coming at 11:00 in the morning and staying until 2:00 in the afternoon.

This year he is bringing Mrs Santa Claus with him too. She is going to be across the street in the window of West Toronto Paint and Wallpaper and you can stand on the street and listen to her read Christmas stories.

The Creative Children’s Dance Centre will have their dancers performing routines from The Nutcracker in other store windows up and down the street. (just follow the Candy Cane signs).

At 12:15 the Redpath Sugar Cookie Truck is coming with their great cookies. Free hot chocolate and cider will warm you up while you wait to sit on Santa’s knee, listen to the choir or stroll up and down the street watching our live window performers.

The Junction BIA is pleased to be once again be accepting toys on behalf of the Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive and accepting donations to the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund.

CONTACT Photography is the world’s largest festival of its kind, designed to engage the public in celebration of the art of photography. For yet another year, The Junction will continue to distinguish itself as hosting the largest concentration of venues with photographic art in the Toronto area. Twenty one businesses will showcase the work of twenty eight local, Canadian and international artists.

All exhibits will be open to the public on May 1st through to the 31st. Our formal Opening Night reception will be held on Saturday May 8th, from 6 to 9 p.m., at all 21 venues. Come join in the fun! We will have a pumpkin drawing and pumpkin carving for everyone. Kids 1 to 4 years old can decorate pumpkins (with parental assistance), while kids 5 to 12-years-old can carve their own pumpkins. All the necessary materials are provided free of charge.

And the pre-Halloween festivities don’t end there! The evening will see a selection of family-friendly classic spooky movies (not too scary) projected at the Junction Train Station. Seating, hot chocolate and treats will be provided – and it’s all free of charge. Dress warmly!
