Function in the Junction 2011 (Update Tue, 5 Jul 2011 21:08:06)

The way in which the Junction community came together for this year’s Function in the Junction was phenomenal. Together we raised $12,775 to help burn survivors and other people in dire need of custom-made pressure garments, crucial to the recovery process of healing their skin.

Within three weeks of the fundraiser, help was given to three burn survivors in their time of need.

Dozens of residents and Junction businesses donated items and volunteered time. The JRA wants to take a few minutes to thank some of them here.

A special Junction thanks to The Paul and Elizabeth Martin Foundation for a $5,000 donation and to the Sleeping Dogs Motorcycle Club for a $1,500 donation.

We would like to thank local eateries; North of Bombay, Aquila, Agora and the Junction Fromagerie for our great dinner served up in style by Fire Station 423 local student volunteers and servers Fumiko Ohno, Jenna Milton, Andy Hughes, JP Bernardo, Helen Stiller, and Mary and Daniel Cole.

Thanks to Bella-Floral Fetish and Martin Flowers for the centre pieces and to the Roche family at Agora Café and Janet and MaryAnn at Latitude 44 for ticket sales.

Thanks to Mark Dallas for the poster design and Voja of Dundas Printing and our local musicians, The McDales, Jay Pennell, Papa K and The Curries.

The JRA would also like to thank the following local businesses and others for donating to our silent auction:
Andrea Carini, Athen's House of Beauty, Axis, Big Daddy's, B & T Sign, Cathy Thorne, Cheri DiNovo, Cornerstone, Cosimo's Hair Styling, Davina Clements, Fire Station 423, Forever Interiors, Giant Steps Coaching, Green Lavender, Hairy Tarantula, Holmes on Homes, Joan Burdett Ness, Kaleidoscope Photography, Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Décor, Lavishy, Linda Dohoo, Lucky U, McAuslan Brewing Prize Pack, Moe McGuinty, Mountain Grove Seed Co, Nancy Martin Pilates, Opticianado Vintage and Fine Eyewear, Pandemonium, Phillipa C. On behalf of our membership, the chair of the JRA would like to thank JRA executive members Linda, Ken, Renee and Francine for the hundreds of hours of volunteer time they spent to make this event happen.

The JRA is already planning next year’s Function and we look forward to another great night for a great cause in the Junction.

It’s your Junction, It’s our Junction!
