Function in the Junction named an overwhelming success
"On a busier than normal Saturday, Junction firefighters still managed to squeeze in some fun at a reception, held in their honour, March 27.

They sold T-shirts and conducted tours of the fire hall as part of a fundraising event spearheaded by the Junction Residents Association, called 'Function in the Junction,' even while one of their trucks and personnel was required at the scene of a small fire that night.

Most of those who toured the facility had never been to a fire station before, said firefighter Greg Schultz. They came with lots of inquiries not only about its operations, but also its history. There was no one better to answer their queries. Schultz is a self-described history buff, who can take credit for the award-winning collection of historical photographs and memorabilia that adorn the walls of the fire hall. They will no longer be displayed with dollar store frames and window caulking. Instead, they will be professionally framed and hung thanks to the success of the evening, which featured a four-course meal at Aquila Restaurant, a silent auction and live music.

"It was exceptional," said Schultz, "beyond my expectations. It was nice to be appreciated."..."

Function in the Junction

"Linda Clements reported on the success of the fundraising event to support preservation of historical prints and documents about the brave firefighters of Junction 423.
On Saturday, March 27th 136 people attended the Function in the Junction and we raised $2,397.75. There were forty gold-seal sponsors, who contributed auction items and services. An article in SNAP reported a successful event.
Linda Clements thanked Janet and Mary Anne DiBernardo of Latitude 44 Gallery for donating their services and offering to frame the historical prints and documents at cost. She also thanked Jose Corniellis, owner and chef of Aquila Restaurant for hosting the event. Special thanks went to Moira Bracken, Jim Roche and Ciara Bracken-Roche from Agora Café, Voja Jurisic of Dundas Marketing and Printing, and Mark Dallas, who designed the poster.
Martin Lennox thanked Linda Clements for all of her efforts with the event."

Function in the Junction Update

Last March the Junction community got together to raise money to professionally frame historic photographs and documents for display in the Junction 423 fire house. Together we raised over $2300, and this week Janet and Mary Anne DiBernardo of Latitude 44 delivered over 60 frames to the fire house.

Another great example of what we can accomplish when the Junction works together as a community.
