The Six Annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival

Monday, January 18 – Sunday, January 24, 2016

This family-friendly week-long event takes design out of the studio and into the city for the community to engage and enjoy. The 2016 Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TO DO), presented by Keilhauer, will offer over 80 exhibitions and events across the city at over 60 venues, showcasing the work of hundreds of designers and artists. Storefronts will display exciting exhibitions, galleries will host immersive installations, and local and international designers will spark discussion with lectures and workshops open to everyone to participate and learn.

Toronto Design Offsite Festival is back in the Junction from January 18-24th 2016.

TODO is excited to announce the arrival of their new and FREE Shuttle Bus service that stops here in the Junction. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes on Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24, 2016, from 12pm-5pm.  Find out more HERE.

Come out and enjoy live entertainment on the Square and exhibit in the City Hall Rotunda, on Sunday, September 13 from noon to 5 p.m. for a FREE celebration in honour of this unique and iconic location.

Designed by Finnish architect Viljo Revell, Toronto City Hall opened in 1965 and is home to the municipal government of Toronto. It is also one of the country's most distinctive landmarks. Some may even call it an icon.

The Junction will be participating in the Toronto Design Offsite Festival once again.

The fifth annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TODO) showcases the best in Canadian design at events across the city, from unexpected prototypes to immersive installations from January 19-25, 2015. Nearly one quarter of the exhibitions will be featured here in The Junction.

TO DO is a not-for-profit, independent design festival that aims to provide exposure for local and national designers. They also foster public understanding and knowledge of the practice of design and create an ongoing presence that promotes Canada’s creativity, drawing on great thinkers, practitioners, and educators to a deliver an innovative celebration of art and design. During the brisk Toronto winter they offer the best in installations, furniture, industrial design, conceptual design and more, to people from Toronto and beyond.

TO DO 15 Opening Party

Festival week starts on Monday, but kick-it-off mid-week at the TO DO Opening Party at SMASH (2880 Dundas St W) in the Junction. Come and find out what the Festival is about, meet local designers, experience featured installations, and dance with the amazing community that makes this Festival happen. Live music by Das Hussy. Featured installation by LeuWebb Projects and live mural by Ben Johnston.

Enjoying your summer in the Junction?! But it's not summer without the Junction Design Crawl!

This Friday, August 23 a bunch of Junction businesses along Dundas Street West between Indian Grove and Clendenan Avenue will be open late as part of the Third Annual Junction Design Crawl. Participating venues will have white lights strung up outside so you don't miss a thing.

Come on out to The Junction and be guided by the lights!

Be Guided by the Lights at the 3rd Annual Design Crawl

Start off your Friday night by going out for an evening stroll, where all of your favourite stores will be playing host for the evening. The Junction Design Crawl is organized by a group of independent business owners in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto.

Come to participating locations to see innovative design displays, participate in one-of-a-kind installations, savour exotic snacks, and hear great live music. All of the businesses participating in the Junction Design Crawl will have white lights strung up outside of their shops, making it easy to navigate the evening.

The monthly Junction Flea is back in the Junction at the corner of Dundas and Keele at Indian Grove.
The first outdoor event of 2013's season is coming this weekend was on Sunday, May 10!

The third annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival will show the best in Canadian design at over 40 exhibitions and events across the city, from unexpected prototypes to immersive installations.

The Warm-Up: Fire-Building in the Junction

Location: The Junction Train Platform at 2960 Dundas Street West (1/2 block east of Pacific Ave)

The Warm-Up: Fire-Building in the Junction project to construct a fire pit at the train platform of the junction was set in motion by Marcin Kedzior and Noah Scheinman and involves students from Interior Design, Industrial Design, and Architectural Technology from Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

Through Brothers Dressler's continued exploration and experimentation with ash wood a pattern of growth has emerged. The small sapling is expanding. Its sprawling branches sprouting new buds of glowing light. This wall lighting system is part of their Ash Out of Quarantine project.

Automatic/Revisited is an installation that explores the creation and implications of experimental systems of construction. The reconstruction of a historical Frank Lloyd Wright system is fitted opposite its contemporary reinterpretation, creating a dialogue between two progressive ideas in architecture.

Smash is unveiling shelving units based on salvaged 19th century library shelves. Smash has updated the bookshelf by rendering its parts in aluminum and mixed wood and metal, as well as introducing colour. The reformatted shelves are suitable for domestic application and include a stand-alone unit as well as built-in, cantilevered option.

Claesson Koivisto Rune + Mjölk is an opportunity to showcase the work of Sweden's most iconic contemporary architect firm: Claesson Koivisto Rune. The exhibition will be in part a retrospective, and feature new projects including the international debut of a collaborative work between Claesson Koivisto Rune and Mjölk.
