A tribute concert celebrating Lhasa and the 20th anniversary of her album La Llorona will be presented on December the 16th, 2017 in Montreal at the MTELUS.
1st act: La Llorona
La Llorona's 11 songs will be played in order, in its entirety with the original band who played on the album: Yves Desrosiers, Mario Légaré, François Lalonde and Dider Dumoutier, with Joe Grass on the pedal steel
2nd act: A variety of selections from the rest of Lhasa's discography
Invited artists: Ana Moura, Patrick Watson, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Betty Bonifassi, Martha Wainwright, Ariel Engle, Fred Fortin, Plants and Animals, Camélia Jordana, Katie Moore and Amparo Sánchez

Participate in CONTACT 2018 The Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival invites participation from photographic artists for May 2018, either as a Featured Exhibition or an Open Exhibition.
The Featured Exhibitions program showcases high-calibre exhibitions and recognizes exceptional photo-based projects. Featured Exhibitions are subject to a juried submission process, and are eligible for The Gattuso Prize, a $5,000 award that acknowledges an outstanding exhibition in the Festival.
The Open Exhibitions program provides a valuable opportunity to have photographic work exhibited in conjunction with other emerging and established artists, and to inspire and engage with the city through photography. Open Exhibitions are non-juried and are therefore accessible to all interested participants and exhibition spaces.
All artists/organizers must have a confirmed exhibition space in order to participate in CONTACT.
A participation fee applies:
Early bird fee (available until November 6, 2017)

Regular registration fee (after November 7, 2017)

One of the highlights of his year Art Toronto International Fair is the Friday Night West-End Gallery Hop. Starting at 6:00 PM on October 27th, you are invited to hop across thirteen of the top contemporary galleries in Toronto's west-end. These galleries will be welcoming art enthusiasts for a night of refreshments and incredible art!
Zalucky Contemporary is an art gallery located in the Historic Junction neghbourhood will be participating in the Art Toronto's "West-End Gallery Hop". The exhibiting artist Lee Henderson will be present at the gallery, showcasing his new work “And the voices came from nowhere”, and refreshments will be served.

The Junction will be full of fall spirit, with activities for all ages. Those in costume can go trick-or-treating at local businesses (local for the Pumpkinfest Trick or Treat Location decal on their windows) and participate in The Junction City Music Hall’s Monster Mash Costume Dance Party from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
The Monster Mash is a family event, it is $5 per group, and everyone is welcome. Come on out with your costumes, dance, and play pinball and win some great prizes.
Weather permitting, there will be a Bouncy Castle at Junction Health.

This TIFF’s fall lineup includes a retrospective of Andrei Tarkovsky (1932-1986) films.
The Poetry of Apocalypse: The Films of Andrei Tarkovsky
The first Toronto retrospective in 15 years devoted to the greatest postwar Soviet filmmaker, whose stark yet sumptuous, elemental yet metaphysical masterpieces placed him amongst the “poet geniuses” of the cinema.
From November 9 to November 30, The Poetry of Apocalypse: The Films of Andrei Tarkovsky highlights the work widely regarded as the greatest of the postwar Soviet era. Tarkovsky’s films are stark and elemental, while also remaining incredibly sleek and stylish (see: his signature tracking shots and pitch-perfect sound design).
TIFF will show the first retrospective of the filmmaker’s work in 15 years with two digital restorations of his sci-fi work Stalker (1979) and Solaris (1972).
This series also includes such masterpieces as The Mirror (1974) and his first feature Ivan’s Childhood (1962).

TUNS, the Canadian 'supergroup', will be headlining this year’s Junction Summer Solstice Festival.
TUNS, comprised of Chris Murphy from Sloan, Matt Murphy of The Super Friendz, and The
Inbreds’ Mike O'Neill, TUNS will end out the evening on Saturday June
24th with their 10:30pm set on the main stage. This is an exciting new band of equals, of collaborators, of experienced veterans who sound as exuberant as ever. It’s like a music geek’s version of fantasy baseball. The band’s self-titled debut album was released at the end of last summer.

Join Eileen Brown, Mikaela Cordero and Neil Ross for a reading of a new one-act play about the Junction experience and the birth of Canada. A diverse village and town becomes a city and joins Toronto as an equal (in its heart).
Featuring, from the Junction's past: Nursing student Anne Leun who broke the colour barrier at a downtown Toronto theatre. Merchant and philanthropist Mrs. Brown – who introduced the telephone to the Junction. Journalist A.B. Rice – for sixty years the Junction was his beat.
